Appel soon rebelled against the traditional art views of the art academy. Inspired by Van Gogh, Matisse, Schwitters and Picasso and strongly attracted by the intuitive and spontaneous, Appel sought a free way of making art. It was at the Rijksacademie that Appel met Corneille, with whom he, together with four other influential artists including Constant, would found the post-war European expressionist movement Cobra in 1948. In his nearly seventy-year career, Appel has produced a wide variety of work, from paintings to sculptures, etchings, ceramics, lithographs and poetry.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Karel Appel","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44074462282011,"sku":"","price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0555\/9084\/6747\/products\/image.jpg?v=1669308431","url":"https:\/\/artleas.de\/products\/karel-appel-blue-kiss","provider":"Artleas","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
